1. The wrong primary category.

Google weighs your primary category heavily when deciding which searches you show up for.

"General Contractor" instead of "Kitchen Remodeler" is the difference between showing up and not, for the exact searches that matter most.


2. No fresh photos.

A profile with 6 photos from three years ago signals inactivity to both Google and the customer scrolling past it. Fresh, real photos — of the actual work, not stock images — are a ranking and trust signal at the same time.


3. Reviews nobody responds to

Getting reviews is half the job. Responding to every one, good or bad, tells Google the profile is actively managed — and tells the next customer you actually care.


4. Inconsistent name, address, and phone number across the web.

If your business is listed slightly differently on your website, Facebook, and directories, Google can't confirm you're a real, stable business. Consistency here is boring, and it works.


5. Zero Google Posts

Posts are free, they're easy, and almost nobody does them consistently — which means the businesses that do stand out by default.


6. A generic or missing business description.

"We do great work at fair prices" tells Google nothing about what you actually do or where. A description built around your real services and service area is doing SEO work, not just filling space.


7. An ignored Q&A section.

Anyone can post a question on your profile — including competitors, and including questions with wrong answers. Left unmanaged, this becomes misinformation sitting on your own listing.
